Learning another language can be lots of fun but like anything you want to be good at, it can sometimes be hard work. You need PERSISTENCE, MOTIVATION, DEDICATION and CONFIDENCE!

There are many ways you can practise your Japanese outside the classroom so here are a few tips...
  • revise work done in class at home (you should already be doing this!)
  • complete your homework (you should already be doing this too!)
  • make word cards of new characters or words and test yourself regularly
  • write new words or characters on posters and stick them up on your bedroom wall (or even on the toilet door!)
  • play language games on the computer (see Language Games page for links)
  • listen to Japanese music
  • watch Japanese anime or movies with/without English subtitles
  • practise using the Japanese you know with your teachers when you see them outside the classroom
  • attend the Japanese Club
  • participate in excursions like the Japanese Camp, Japan Trip
  • set goals for yourself (eg. I will continue learning Japanese so I can use my language skills when I visit Japan)
